The project comprised the refurbishment of an existing apartment block located at 28 Amwell Street in the London Borough of Islington, EC1R.

The Charles Allen Building contains 14 apartments from ground floor to 6th floor with a part basement under.  The existing building was that of a reinforced concrete frame clad in brick with glazing and balconies predominantly to the West elevation.  The building was located on a self contained site bounded to the West by Amwell Street, to the East and South by a Thames Water Plant Facility and by a works yard and residential house to the North.

The refurbishment works took place while 4 No Apartments (Regulated Tenants) remain occupied.
